A Maiden Doll from the Ndebele People of South Africa. The doll is made of fabric with beaded patterns covering the body. The doll wears a beaded headdress, a beaded shoulder wrap, green and black rings around the waist, and a beaded apron and belt. The style of the apron on this doll signifies that the Ndebele girl has undergone her puberty rites and is now of marriageable age. The beaded black hoop around the waist indicates that she is engaged to be married.
